James A. Kult, 80, of West Lafayette, passed away at IU Arnett Hospital 12:47 AM Saturday March 23, 2024. James was born in Lafayette July 17,1943 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, the son of the late Bernard and Viola (Merchen) Kult and was a graduate of Oxford, IN High School. He served in the Indiana National Guard and employed by REA Magnet Wire forty-two and a half years retiring in 2008. James was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Oxford and enjoyed volunteering helping to serve funeral dinners. He married Linda M. Nesbitt at St. Mary Cathedral in Lafayette August 14, 1965 and she preceded him in death March 26, 2013. Surviving are two sons, Keith Kult (Janet) of Otterbein, IN, Roger Kult (Denise) of Bloomington, IN, five grandchildren, Brett Kult (Katie), Aaron Kult (Ashley), Mary Kult, Nicholas Kult (Rylee) and William Kult and by five great-grandchildren, Everett Kult, Vivian Kult, Madelyn Kult, Quinn Kult, Josephine Kult and a great granddaughter expected in June. He was preceded in death by brother, Joseph Kult and by a sister, Jane Ann Swartzell. Friends may call from 9:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM Tuesday April 2 in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Oxford, Fr. Sean Aaron officiating. The interment will follow in Oxford Catholic Cemetery. Those desiring may contribute in memoriam to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
