James M. "Jim" Gretencord, Jr., 52, of Fowler, died Wednesday July 29, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Central Emergency Room in Lafayette of an apparent aortic aneurysm. Jim was born in Lafayette October 11, 1957, the son of James E. and Janet M. Demiere Gretencord, Sr. He was a life- long resident of Benton County, and a graduate of Benton Central High School. He married Cindy R. Mills at Louisville, KY. October 26, 1990 and she survives. Jim owned and operated Gretencord Nursery along with J & C Trucking, and was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Oxford, the Benton County Bow Club and the National Rifle Association. Surviving with his wife are his parents who reside in Fowler, IN.; a daughter, Amie D. Gretencord of Battle Ground, IN.; a step-son, Aaron M. Posey of Fowler, IN.; 6 brothers, Steve Gretencord (wife Kathy) of Terre Haute, IN.; Dave Gretencord of Indianapolis, IN.; Roger Gretencord (wife Cindy) of Fowler, IN.; Jerry Gretencord of Kentland, IN.; Rick Gretencord (wife Susie) of Oxford, IN. and Denny Gretencord (wife Lisa) of Mulberry, IN. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Chelsea and Chloe Jasper and Caleb Thomas, several nieces, nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, Oxford, from the Rosary at 2:45 until 7 PM Sunday. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM Monday, St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with interment to follow in Oxford Catholic Cemetery.
