James Bunyard, Sr.

James S. Bunyard, Sr., 90, of Dayton, IN passed away unexpectedly at Franciscan East St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette Sunday evening December 2, 2018. James was born in Farmer City, IL March 6, 1928, the son of the late Horace James and Lena Veach Bunyard. He married Bessie I. Martin in Indianapolis, IN December 4, 1953, and she preceded him in death October 2, 2008. James was a carman for the Monon Railroad, later the L & N and finally CSX. He served in the US Navy following WWII. Surviving are two daughters, Nora Bunyard of West Lafayette; Peggy Little of Port Charlotte, FL; two sons, James S. Bunyard, Jr., of Rutherglen, VA and Ralph Edward Bunyard of Stockwell, IN. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Private family services will be held at a later date.
