Ivan R. “Pete” Cunningham, 84, of Linden, IN died at his residence Tuesday morning August 23, 2016. Pete was born in Avalon, MO September 16, 1931, the son of the late Ira and Susan Wimmer Cunningham and was a 1949 graduate of Avalon High School. He married Julia Jean “Jolly” Owings at Chillicothe, MO November 16, 1949, and she survives. Pete was very active and past three time president of the Linden Conservation Club. He loved hunting and fishing, training bird dogs, helping people when he could and being a conservationist. Pete was a welder for several natural gas pipeline construction companies, and with his family resided in many locations before moving to Linden in 1964. He later was employed by W.H. Joyner Company in Lafayette and Crawfordsville. Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Brenda Sutton (Leroy) of Long Lane, MO, Sandra Birge (Darrell) of Linden, IN and Martha Wedemeyer (Kit) of Roachdale, IN; by a son, Clayton Cunningham of Buck Creek, IN and a daughter-in-law, Jenny Cunningham of Crawfordsville, IN. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Cunningham and by two brothers, Roger and Alvin Cunningham. Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, Linden from 5 until 7 PM Thursday August 25. The funeral will be held at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home in Linden 10:30 AM Friday August 26, Rev. Dr. R Clayton Kendall officiating with interment to follow at Linden Cemetery. If friends desire, memorials may be made to the Linden Conservation Club.
