Ila Hayden

Ila M. Hayden, 77, of Oxford, IN died at Heritage Healthcare in West Lafayette Wednesday June 15, 2016. Ila was born in Somerset, KY September 21, 1938, the daughter of the late Bernard and Stella Blanche Garrett Phelps and was a graduate of Goodland, IN High School. She married Louis E. Hayden, Sr. in Lafayette, IN March 15, 1975, and he preceded her in death October 27, 1989. Ila was a member of the Fowler Christin Church and had been employed as a cook at the Benton County Home, retiring in 1999. Surviving are three daughters, Anna M. Carter (Michael) of West Lafayette, IN; Candy J. Mueller of CT; Essy Jo Williams (Donald, Jr.) of Monticello, IN; a son, James O. Hayden (Monica) of Lafayette, IN; two step-daughters, Dianne Simmerman of Ladoga, IN; Dena M . Mann of Fowler, IN; two step-sons, Louis E. Hayden, Jr. (Amy) of Delphi, IN; Rickey Hayden (Mary) of Monon, IN; a brother, Harold L. Phelps (Donna) of Lafayette, IN and a sister, L. Grace Dixon(Tom) of Oxford, IN. Also surviving are26 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Fowler Christian Church at 5:30 PM Tuesday June 21, Pastor Kirk Zimmerman officiating.
