Gordon R Danner, 82, of Lafayette, Indiana passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at 5:15 am with his wife Donna at his side. He was born August 8, 1934 in rural Benton County to the late Claude and Laura (Harris) Danner. He was raised and attended schools in rural Chalmers. Gordon graduated in the Class of 1952 from Chalmers High School and enlisted in the United State Army serving in California and Augsburg, Germany. He revisited Augsburg with his wife, children and grandchildren in 2001. Upon his honorable discharge he married Donna M. Faker at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Kentland, Indiana on December 31, 1955.
Gordon farmed near Kentland for 48 years. No one enjoyed the work of farming as much as he. After retiring in 2004 he and Donna moved to Lafayette, Indiana, where he was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife, Donna, his daughters Susan Mrzlack (Robert), Monticello, Dr. Diane Bagnoli (Dr. Michael), Lafayette. He is also survived by grandchildren, Michael Mrzlack (Jennifer), Pittsburgh, PA., Anthony Mrzlack (Allena), Grand Rapids, MI., Ellen Mrzlack (Wes Thacker) Indianapolis, Lisa Mrzlack (fiance’ Justin Beighley), Chicago, IL., Michael G. Bagnoli (fiancee’ Jordan Payne), Chicago, IL., Mathew Bagnoli (Kristina), Lafayette and Suzanne Bagnoli at Purdue University. Also surviving are his great-grandchildren, Mrzlacks, Harrison Robert, Drake Anthony, and Norah Lily. Also Bagnoli, Anthony Vladimir.
In addition to his parents, preceding him in death were all of his siblings, 2 brothers, Wayne and Roger Danner and one sister Carol Kerr.
The Rosary will be recited at 9:15 AM, followed by visitation with the family from 9:30 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM on Friday, January 27, at St. Boniface Church, Father Robert J. Bernotas and Father Tim Alkire officiating. The service will be followed by a gathering at St. Michael’s Center. Graveside services will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Kentland at 2:30 PM (EST) Friday. Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, Lafayette in charge of his care.
