Gerald Steiner

Gerald J. (Jerry) Steiner, age 58, of Cathedral Healthcare Center, Jasper, IN, died March 15, 2022, at 11:10 p.m. Jerry was the seventh of eight children born to Bernard (Bud) and Beatrice (Schafer) Steiner. Jerry attended Otterbein Elementary, Benton Central High School and graduated in 1974 from Frankfort High School. He worked in sheltered workshops in Lafayette, Frankfort, and Crawfordsville and was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, Otterbein. Jerry earned 26 awards including "Best Attitude 1988" for a variety of competitions in Special Olympics. Survivors include his mother; five brothers: Ralph, Robert, Vincent, John, and Carl; and two sisters: Jeanette and Phyllis. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A viewing at 10:00 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Anthony Rowland officiating will be at St. Mary Cathedral, Lafayette, on Thursday, March 24, 2022. The interment service will be held at Oxford Catholic Cemetery, Oxford, IN at 2:30 PM Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
