George Rasmussen

George Ronald Rasmussen, 98, of Oxford, IN. died at Rosewalk Village Healthcare Center in Lafayette at 2:46 AM Sunday August 14, 2011 where he had resided the past 5 years. Mr. Rasmussen was born in Oxford, IN. June 13, 1913, the son of the late Henry and Rosa Catherine Rasmussen and attended Oxford Schools. He married Marivene Elizabeth Copas in Oxford February 24, 1936, and she preceded him in death August 23, 2003. Mr. Rasmussen was a life- long farmer in Benton County, and was a member of the Oxford Federated Church. Surviving are 3 daughters, Donna Carter (husband Max) of Lafayette, IN.; Nancy Linthicum (husband Terry) of Green Valley, AR.; Karen Miller (husband Norman) of West Lafayette, IN.; a son, Ronald Rasmussen (wife Shelvie) of Oxford, IN. and a brother Russell Rasmussen (wife Ellen) of Oxford, IN. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Paul, Albert and Floyd Rasmussen, and by a sister, Opal Bowman. Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, Oxford, from 10:00 AM until the service at Noon Wednesday, Chaplain Dwight Herin officiating, with interment to follow in Justus Cemetery.
