Freda Swim

Freda "Maxine" Swim, 91, of Ft. Wayne, and formerly of Oxford, IN. died at the Lutheran Life Village in Ft. Wayne , IN. Wednesday March 16, 2011. Mrs. Swim had lived in the Oxford area 57 years before moving to the Ft. Wayne area in 1998. She was born in Kingman, IN. September 13, 1919, the daughter of the late Lee S. and Clara Alice Thompson Dotson, and was a graduate of Kingman, IN. High School. Her marriage was to Ralph Davis Swim at Kingman, IN. July 4, 1939, and he preceded her in death June 13, 2003. Mrs. Swim had worked for the Benton Community School Corporation as a head cook at Benton Central and Oxford Schools. She was a member of Christ's Church at Georgetown in Ft. Wayne, and a former member of the Oxford Church of Christ. Surviving are 2 daughters, Delores Bastian (husband Robert) of Ft. Wayne, IN and Linda Strand (husband Ragnar) of Oslo, Norway and a sister, Mildred Swim of Lafayette, IN. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Robert D. Bastian. Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, Oxford from 1:00 PM until the service at 2:00 PM Sunday, Larry McMillan officiating. Graveside services will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at the Kingman Fraternal Cemetery, Kingman, IN. If friends desire, memorial may be made to the Oxford Church of Christ.
