Eugene Peercy

Eugene E. Peercy, 85, of Oxford, IN., died at Creasy Springs Health Campus in Lafayette, IN. 5:00 AM Friday November 19, 2010, where he had been a patient the past 2 weeks. Mr. Peercy was born in Benton County, near Oxford May 18, 1925, the son of the late Nonie O. and Lou Bertram Peercy. He was a graduate from Oxford High School in May, 1943, and served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. Mr. Peercy married Wilma D. Woods at Oxford June 11, 1948, and she preceded him in death May 19, 2008. He served in the Indiana National Guard for 30 years, serving at Boswell, Lafayette and Remington, retiring in 1988 with the rank of First Sergeant. Mr. Peercy was a member of the Oxford United Methodist Church, the Pine Village Masonic Lodge and the Oxford Lions Club. Surviving are 3 sons, Rollin E. "Ron" Peercy (wife Bonnie) of Maryville, TN.; Rev. K. Wayne Peercy (wife Delight) of Lafayette, IN.; and John R. Peercy (wife Pam) of Boswell, IN.; and a sister, Margaret M. Hay of Plainfield, IN. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Ramie O. and Haskel R. Peercy. Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, Oxford, from 5 until 8 PM Tuesday, with Pine Village Masonic Lodge service at 7:30 PM . Funeral services will be held at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, Oxford at 10:00 AM Wednesday, Rev. Linda Sproull officiating, with interment in Rainsville Cemetery with Fowler American Legion military rites.
