Elizabeth Pilotte

Elizabeth J. "Betty" Gerlach Pilotte, 85, of Lafayette, died at Rosewalk Village Healthcare Center in Lafayette 7:45 AM Tuesday March 8, 2011. She had been residing at Rosewalk Commons since April 2010. Mrs. Pilotte was born in Warren County, Indiana April 18, 1925, the daughter of the late Aaron and Sylvia Mehaffey Martin, and attended Williamport High School. She first married Cyril Gerlach in Lafayette August 8, 1944, and he preceded her in death March 16, 1980. She then married Leon Pilotte December 19, 1981, and he preceded her in death January 13, 2003. Mrs. Pilotte worked at Purdue University for 16 years, retiring in 1988 from the printing services department. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters, Jenks Rest Euchre Club, and enjoyed bowling, playing cards, reading and crocheting. Surviving is a daughter, Judith Miller (husband Leslie) of Frankfort, IN. and 2 step-sons, Samuel Pilotte of Louisville, KY. and Christopher Pilotte of Fishers, IN. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Dorothy Swanson, Janie Ruppert , Maxine Rothrock, and Evelyn Atwell, and by 2 brothers, Lloyd and Harold Martin. Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette, from 5 until 8 PM Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM Friday, St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Fr.
