Elizabeth Bumbleburg

Elizabeth M. Bumbleburg, 91, of Lafayette, died unexpectedly at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Emergency Room 7:59 A.M. Wednesday January 7, 2008. She was born in Lafayette June 14, 1917, the daughter of the late Joseph and Eva (nee Coomey) Delaney, and was a life long Lafayette resident. Mrs. Bumbleburg attended St. Boniface School, and later Lafayette Jefferson High School. She married Theodore J. Bumbleburg at St. Mary's Cathedral in Lafayette September 8, 1935, and he preceded her in death October 2, 1994. Mrs. Bumbleburg worked for the Lafayette Journal and Courier for a total of 46 years, starting as a proofreader, later as the job shop operator, and before her retirement in 2004 as a receptionist and operator. She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, the Rosary and Altar Society, the Catholic Daughters, the American Legion Post 11 Auxilliary, Kappa Delta Phi Sorority, the Edgewood Club and the Sister Rafinia Art Club. Surviving is a son, Joseph T. Bumbleburg (wife Connie) of Lafayette; a daughter, Jerilynn Ann McIntyre (husband Richard) of Lafayette, and a sister, Rosemary Pesek of Berwyn, Illinois. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Ted Bumbleburg, Amy Bressler and Martina Dickman, and 3 great-grandchildren, Cameron Bumbleburg, Emily Bressler and Demaree Allen. She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Delaney. Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette from the Rosary at 4:45 PM until 8 PM Friday. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM Saturday, St. Mary's Cathedral, Fr. Dan Gartland, Celebrant and Msgr. Fred Potthoff, Concelebrant, officiating. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery.
