Eleanor Ehlen

Eleanor F. Ehlen, 90, of Lafayette, died at Indiana University Health Arnett Hospital 2:46 PM Wednesday September 28, 2011. She was born in Lafayette November 5, 1920, the daughter of the late Leo and Mary E. McAulliffe Weast, and attended St. Mary's Grade School and was a 1938 graduate of St. Francis High School. Ms. Ehlen was employed at GTE North for 18 years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and the St. Francis High School Alumni Association. Surviving is a son, Thomas J. Ehlen, and a daughter Martha A. Ehlen, both of Lafayette. Also surviving is a granddaughter, Heather A. Ehlen-Gibson, and 3 great-grandchildren, Dylan, Kayden and Tristen. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Margaret Yost and M. Katherine Halsema. Friends may call at St. Mary's Cathedral from Noon until the Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 PM Friday, Fr. Dan Gartland officiating, with interment to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. If friends desire, memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
