Eleanor R. DeHahn, 76, of West Lafayette, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday morning, September 12, 2017, surrounded by her family and the glorious sounds of nature outside her patio door. Mrs. DeHahn was born in Lafayette, IN on June 4, 1941, the daughter of the late Anna C. (Donahoe) Brickler and Herman J. Brickler. Eleanor was a 1959 graduate of Lafayette Central Catholic High School. She married her high school sweetheart James R. "Jim" DeHahn in Lafayette, IN on July 30, 1960; he preceded her in death last month shortly after celebrating their 57th wedding anniversary together. Eleanor was also preceded in death by brothers Thomas and Joseph Brickler, and sister Barbara (Brickler) Ubelhor. Eleanor was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral. She enjoyed the great outdoors and feeding a wide variety of birds and animals at their Prophetstown home on the Wabash. Eleanor, along with her husband, enjoyed spending winters in their adopted hometown of Daytona Beach, FL and many family vacations with their children and grandchildren. Mrs. DeHahn retired in 2002 from a career helping others at L.S. Ayres and Company, and the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Surviving are daughter, Christine Pass (husband Mike) of West Lafayette, IN; sons, Richard (wife Beth) DeHahn of Lafayette, IN and Thomas DeHahn of Chicago, IL; sister, Mary (husband Arthur) Belanger Lafayette, IN and goddaughters Ann Stech of Naperville, IL and Lauren Hainje-Davis of Lafayette, IN. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Jeremy (wife Brieanne) Birge, Cortney Wheeler, Ashton DeHahn, and Luke DeHahn, and 3 great-granddaughters, Ella, Haddie and Brynn. The Rosary will be recited at 5:45PM, with visitation to follow until 8:00 PM Thursday September 14 at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, 1104 Columbia St. Lafayette, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Cathedral Lafayette, IN at 10:30 AM on Friday September 15 with interment to follow at St. Boniface Cemetery, Fr. Jeff Martin officiating.
