Edna L. Holbrook, 93, of Lafayette, died at St. Elizabeth East Hospital 6:50 AM Thursday February 2, 2012 where she had been a patient since January 21.
Edna was born in Chicago, IL. December 5, 1918, the daughter of the late William J. and Ina Brown May, and attended schools in Chicago.
She married Russell J. Holbrook in Chicago December 11, 1942, and he preceded her in death August 12, 1985. Edna and her husband moved to Lafayette in 1978 coming from Crawfordsville, IN. She had worked as a credit verifier for the Chicago Tribune Credit Department.
Edna was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church; St. Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary; the Sister Rafinia Art Club; a member of the 3rd ORder of Franciscans; did volunter work at the Indiana Veterans Home and at St. Ann's Soup Kitchen, as well as enjoying reading and walking.
Edna had no immediate family surviving, but many friends, including Mary Craigmile, Linda Daulton Wilkinson, Amy Vanderkolk, Elmira Bauer and Elizabeth Pearson all of Lafayette.
Friends may call at St. Boniface Catholic Church one hor prior to the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM Monday, Fr. Tim Alkire officiating. Interment following at St. Mary's Cemetery.
