Dorothy McGuire, daughter of Anna and Harper Mikesell, died Sunday, March 29 just one month shy of her 100th birthday. Dorothy was married to James McGuire for 63 "short" years and he preceded her in death. Dorothy leaves a legacy of kindness and humor. Even into her early 90's, Dorothy would drive her friends to appointment and run errands. Dorothy's sharp wit often left her friends and family shaking their heads with laughter. Dorothy will be eternally missed by her two sons: Daniel (Amy) McGuire of Bakersfield, CA., Patrick (Peg) McGuire of Demotte, IN., her three grandchildren; Joy Bishop (Mark Jarvis), Lafayette, Michael (Sharon) McGuire, Bloomington, IN., and Angela (Jeff) Trop, Winfield, PA., and 4 great-grandchildren: Corey and Keenan McGuire, and Aubrey and Adam Bishop. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests donations to St. Lawrence Church or St. Lawrence McAllister Neighborhood Association. In Dorothy's memory, have a beer, tell a joke, and like Dorothy, do something kind and helpful for somebody. Friends may call at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, corner of 19th and Meharry Streets in Lafayette from 10 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM Tuesday April 7, Fr. Eric Underwood officiating. The interment will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery. Hahn-Groeber Funeral & Cremation Service is caring for the family.
