Dorothy Baker

Dorothy J. Baker, 94, of Goshen, IN and formerly of Lafayette, died Tuesday May 19, 2015 in Goshen, IN at IU Health Goshen Hospital. She had been residing in Goshen the past seven years to be close to her daughter. Dorothy was born in Lafayette, IN April 21, 1921 the daughter of the late Elmer and Helen Bossung Beile and was a graduate of St. Francis High School in Lafayette. She married Marion R. Baker in Lafayette at St. Boniface Catholic Church October 23, 1954, and he preceded her in death March 30, 1973. Dorothy and her husband formerly owned and operated B & W Shoe Company in Lafayette, and later she was employed by General Telephone as a secretary before retiring in 1983. Dorothy was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. Surviving is her daughter, Patricia A. Tumey (husband Thomas) of Goshen, IN; a brother, Don Beile of Lexington, KY; and by two grandchildren, Tanya Marie and Justin David Tumey. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Beile. Friends may call at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 318 N. 9th St., Lafayette from 9:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM Tuesday May 26, Fr. Clayton Thompson officiating.
