Deva Mason Buchanan, 86, of Piper City, IL and formerly of Oxford, IN died at Piper City Rehab Center 11:42 AM Monday September 12, 2016. She had resided in Piper City the past 10 years, moving from Oxford. Deva was born in Slick Ford, KY December 30, 1929, the daughter of the late Raymond and Flonnie Morgan Piercy and attendee Wayne County, KY schools. She married Herbert Buchanan at Fowler, IN in 1951 and he died April 22, 2002. Deva was an owner and operator of several restaurants, and later in life provided in home daycare. She was a member of the Montmorenci Baptist Church and an honorary member of the Life Church in Gilman, IL; a former member of the Oxford Lions Club and past president of the residents council of Piper City Rehab Center. Surviving is a daughter, Ruby C. Knight (Ron) of Piper City, IL and by three sisters, Neva Thompson of Bradenton, FL; Georgia Allen of Oxford, IN and Berniece Black of Somerset, KY. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sons, Alvin Guffey, Jerry and Donald Buchanan; by three brothers, Paul, Bobby and Gene Piercy and by two sisters, Teva Pitman and Bonnie Lank.
