Darold Robinson

Darold W. Robinson, 81, of Oxford, IN. died Thursday August 27, 2009 in the Emergency Room at St. Elizabeth Central. He had been ill with cancer since May, 2009. Born August 14, 1928 in Huxley Iowa, the son of the late Virgil and Martha Olson Robinson, he had resided in Oxford the past 48 years, and was a 1946 graduate of Boswell, IN. High School. He married Alice Gramman at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fowler, IN. January 27, 1951, and she survives. Mr. Robinson had worked as an agent operator for the Nickel Plate Railroad for over 12 years, and later was employed as a project supervisor for INDOT 22 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Oxford, and had served as president of the Oxford Catholic Cemetery Board 15 years. Mr. Robinson was a charter member of the Indiana National Guard, Boswell Unit for 8 years and served on the Oxford Town Council for 16 years. Surviving with his wife is a daughter, Kay Schurr (husband Glen) of Fowler, IN.; 2 sons, Kenneth Robinson (wife Deb) of Columbus, Ohio and Donald Robinson of Streetsboro, Ohio; and a half brother, Mike Ellis of Elbert, Ohio. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, Matt,Emily & Amy Robinson; Matt & Greg Edge; Craig & Dessa Schurr; Lena Atkinson, Erik Robinson; 8 great-grandchildren, Jax & Teagan Robinson; Hayden Evan & Addie Edge; Ethan & Eve Schurr and Cora Atkinson. Preceded in death by a daughter, Diane; a son Virgil; 2 brothers Oley and Darold's twin, Duane Robinson; and a sister Lorene Robinson. Friends may call at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Oxford from 3:30PM until Mass of Christian Burial at 5:30 PM Monday, Fr. Robert Klemme officiating. Interment to follow at Oxford Catholic Cemetery.
