Constance Jean Watson died peacefully on January 13, 2023, at Cumberland Pointe Health Campus in West Lafayette, IN. Connie was born on May 31, 1932, in Reedsburg, WI to Dr. Harold and Mrs. Ferne Kleeber. After spending her childhood in Reedsburg, she graduated from Northwestern University in 1954. Connie was proud to be a Northwestern alumna and remained an avid Wildcats fan for the rest of her life. Following college, Connie worked for the Quaker Oats Company in Chicago, where she met David D. Watson. Connie and Dave married in 1957 and moved to Barrington, IL where they raised their family. In 1988, they relocated to Lafayette, IN. The decision to leave Barrington for Dave’s job was a difficult one, but they quickly grew to love the people and community of Lafayette.
Connie was a devoted wife, mother, friend, and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and hosting parties to entertain her friends and family. Connie had a long history of volunteering in her community and being an active church member. She loved listening to music (Christmas year-round if left up to her!), bird watching in the backyard, gardening, watching sports, shopping, and spending time in various social circles with her friends.
Connie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dave, in July of 2013 and her sister, Joyce Breen, in December of 2021. Connie is survived by her two daughters Pam Streder (husband Greg) of Carrollton, TX and Laurie Watson of St. Paul, MN. She is also survived by her five precious grandchildren sisters Sarah Scott (husband Ari), Katy Smith (husband Darren), and Laurie Streder; siblings Lucas Clapp and Abbie Clapp; her three great-grandchildren Daxon Smith, Rowan Smith, and Lyla Scott; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Monday March 13, 2023, at Trinity United Methodist Church (509 North Street, Lafayette, IN 47901).
