Colleen Marie Fisher, a member of the Lafayette community, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2023, at The Springs at Lafayette. Born on February 29, 1952, in Lafayette, IN, Colleen was the daughter of John J. Halsema and Katherine Weast.
In 1971, Colleen graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School, where she formed lasting friendships that lasted throughout her life.
Colleen had worked at the iconic Ben Hur Tavern and previously at Head Start in Lafayette. She brought joy to many patrons with her friendly and welcoming demeanor. Colleen's dedication to her craft was evident in her ability to create the perfect drink while simultaneously creating an atmosphere of warmth and camaraderie.
Colleen cherished spending time with her loved ones. She had an infectious laugh that could brighten any room and enjoyed making memories with her friends and family. Whether it was sharing stories over a cold beer or engaging in fun-filled activities together, she always brought people together and fostered a sense of togetherness.
Colleen's passion for life extended beyond her work and relationships. She had a keen eye for design and enjoyed shopping for unique pieces to decorate both the inside and outside of her home. Additionally, she found great fulfillment in expressing her creativity through various crafts.
Colleen is survived by her devoted sisters: Joanne E. Liphard, Marjorie L. Staley (Greg), Connie S. Rehwinkel; Her sisterhood provided a strong support system that carried Colleen through both ups and downs, and their bond was a testament to the love they shared. Colleen also leaves behind her loving companion, Joe Holsclaw of Lafayette, IN.
Preceded in death by father, John J. Halsema; mother Katherine Weast; brother Patrick Halsema; and sisters Nancy Shaw, Janet Haynes, Mary Ellen Reister.
Her memory will forever be cherished by all those whose lives she touched. Colleen Marie Fisher will be remembered for her warm heart, infectious laughter, and the lasting impact she had on the community she called home.
May her soul find eternal peace as we celebrate her beautiful life. A graveside service will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery 2122 Old Romney Rd, Lafayette, IN on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 10:30 AM.
