Clifford Gause

Clifford R. Gause, 64, of Lafayette, IN. died at the Illiana VA Medical Center in Danville, IL. Wednesday morning December 15, 2010, where he had been a patient for the past month. He had previously been a patient at St. Mary's Healthcare in Lafayette, suffering the past 10 years with frontal temporal dementia. Mr. Gause was born November 16, 1946 in Bakersfield, California, the son of the late George E. and Dora A. Moreno Gause. He received his Bachelors of Arts Degree from California State University at Fresno in 1973, and served in the US Army in Germany during the Viet Nam War. Mr. Gause married Brenda K. Dilport at Fresno, California June 28, 1969, and she survivies. He worked as a general contractor, carpenter, cabinet maker and remodeler, and was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lafayette and the Knights of Columbus, Third Degree. Surviving beside his wife are 3 sons, Bryan Gause (wife Sarah) of Canaan, NH.; Tyler Gause (wife Anna Liss) of Lafayette, IN. and Andrew Gause of Chicago, IL.; 4 brothers, Michael Gause of Bakersfield, CA.; Steven Gause (wife Kerrie) of Bakersfield, CA.; George Gause of Livermore, CA.; Dennis Gause of Portland, CA.; 4 sisters, Diana Ashley (husband Rollin) of Portland, OR.; Patricia Bugni of Bakersfield, CA.; Susan Kayser of Bakersfield, CA.; and Christine Gough (husband Danny) of Lake Isabella, CA. He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Gause and a brother Brian Gause. A memorial mass will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church Monday, Dec. 20, Fr. Tim Alkire officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Poverty Fund, C/O St. Boniface Catholic Church, 318 N. 9th St., Lafayette, IN. 47901.The family would like to thank everyone at St. Mary's Healthcare in Lafayette and the Illiana VA Medical Center for the care and support shown to the family.
