Chester E. "Buddy" "Pappio" Staley, Jr., 61 of Lafayette, IN. died at Regency Place in Lafayette Friday July 22, 2011 at 9:35 AM. He had resided in Lafayette since 2006, moving from Indianapolis, and having previously resided in Terre Haute, IN. Mr. Staley was born in Terre Haute, IN. the son of the late Chester E. and Fairy Wynona Howard Staley, Sr., graduated from Milford, MI. High School in 1968, and from Indiana State University in Terre Haute in 1984 with a degree in philosophy. He served in the US Army during the Viet Nam War, and was a Native American art dealer. Mr. Staley enjoyed fishing, camping, playing the guitar and collecting Native American art. Surviving is a daughter, Lindsay Lea Spurgeon (husband Cory) of Lafayette, IN.; a son, Jeremy Immanuel Staley (fiancAC. Samantha Merkel) of Fowler, IN.; a step-son, Matthew Mesaeh (wife Lauri) of Terre Haute, IN.; a brother, Brad Staley (wife Lisa) of Pittsburgh, PA.; and 3 sisters, Cynthia Carson (husband William) of Indianapolis, IN.; Susan "Susie" Boyll (husband Jim) of Terre Haute, IN.; and Terri Stevens (husband Rob) of Phoenix, AZ. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren. "Buddy" and "Pappio's" greatest love was his children, grandchildren and his family. Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette from 5 until 8 PM Tuesday. Funeral services at HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME 2:00 PM Wednesday, Mr. William Mesaeh, Jr. officiating, with interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery with military graveside rites.
