Carmen Caroline Werner, 78, of Lafayette, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 25, 2024, in her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Oak Park, IL on October 3, 1945, to Dominic and Marie DeMay. Carmen loved spending time outdoors. She loved playing golf with her golf league ladies, working in her yard, and making candles to give away. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and supporting her grandkids in everything they did. Carmen lived her life with a servant’s heart. She was a member of Faith Church and loved teaching the little ones about Jesus in the classroom or in the nursery. She showed love to others through her cooking; always feeding everyone around her. Carmen is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Don Werner, and their two children, Lance Werner (Toni) and Alison Scales (Brent), as well as their five grandchildren; Sydney, Cole, Warren, Blake, and Sophia. She is also survived by a sister, Gloria Natale (Micky), and two brothers; Dominic DeMay and Dan DeMay (Joyce). She was preceded in death by her parents, and three siblings: Gene DeMay, David (Rose) DeMay, and Tommy (Gilda) DeMay.
