C. Herbert Anderson, 84, of Lafayette, died at Lafayette Home Hospital 8:26 PM Saturday October 4, 2008. Born in Lafayette March 21, 1924, the son of the late Clifton H. and Adela Werner Anderson, he was a life long Lafayette resident. He was a graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School, attended Stanford University and Lafayette Business College. Mr. Anderson worked as a postal clerk in Lafayette, and had served as postmaster of the Buck Creek Post Office, retiring in 1979; and later worked as a courier for Lafayette National Bank, retiring in 1985. He married Irene M. Wright in Lafayette October 23, 1949, and she survives. Mr. Anderson was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, the American Postal Workers Union and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and served in the US Army during World War II, and was a purple heart recipient. Surviving with his wife is a sister, Dorothy M. Sense of Lafayette.

Also surviving are 6 nieces, 2 nephews, 3 great-nieces, 5 great-nephews, 7 great-great-nephews and a great-great-niece. Preceded in death by 3 sisters, Ruth E. Baumgaertel, Alice M.
