Billie E. Toy, 83, of rural Attica, IN passed away at Franciscan East Hospital in Lafayette, IN Saturday August 26, 2023 at 2:30 PM. He had been in failing health the past month. He was born in Pocahontas, Arkansas March 18, 1940, the son of the late Ervin E. and Velma (Stokes) Toy. He married Phyllis L. Stevens in Oxford, IN October 21, 1962 and she preceded him in death April 4, 2018. Billie was a retired farmer, but had also served as a Deputy Sheriff with the Warren County Sheriff’s Department. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, and was a member of both the Attica American Legion Post 52 as well as the American Legion Post 57 in Fowler and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Surviving are two daughters, Kathryn Anne Gonser of Fowler, IN, Amanda Gayle Bryant (Jessie) of Attica, IN, a son, Steven Eugene Toy (Leanne) of Williamsport, IN. two brothers, Don Toy (Debbie) of Indianapolis, IN, Greg Toy (Linda) of New Colony, TX, a sister Aggie DeBruicker of Fowler, IN as well as five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Clara Hoaks and Doritia Leuck and a brother, Otis Toy. A celebration of Life Service will be held at the Attica American Legion, 122 W. Mill Street, Attica, IN 47918 on Sunday Sept. 24, 2023 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, Oxford, IN is caring for the Toy Family.
