Betty Yuill, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Saturday January 18, 2025 at Franciscan East Hospital in Lafayette surrounded by her husband and four children.
She was born in Indianapolis, IN October 20, 1943, the daughter of the late William G. and Ocia D. (Kerr) Pruitt and was a graduate of Fowler, IN High School.
Betty worked for many years at Jefferson High School in the cafeteria performing various duties. Her favorite was at the cash register where she enjoyed interacting with the students and getting to know them. She retired in 2008.
Betty enjoyed reading and cooking for her family, especially on holidays. She had such a big beautiful heart and loved bringing joy to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in many different ways.
Surviving is her husband, Joseph D. Yuill whom she married in Fowler, IN August 1, 1964 along with two daughters, Morgan L. Brady (Matthew) of Ft. Wayne, IN, Jenny S. Yuill of Lafayette, IN, two sons, Mark D. Yuill and John A. Yuill both of Lafayette, IN; two brothers, Tim Pruitt (Deb) of Martinsville, IN and Mike Pruitt of Fowler, IN; a sister, Doris Hasser of Lafayette, IN; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, William “Truman” Pruitt.
The Rosary will be held at 9:30 AM Friday with visitation from 10:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM Friday, all at St. Mary Cathedral, Fr. Matthew Jakupco officiating. The interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
