Betty L. Copas, 83, of Fowler, formerly of Oxford, died at Clarian-Arnett Hospital in Lafayette 6:40 AM Wednesday March 18, 2009 where she had been a patient for the past 6 days. Mrs. Copas had been in failing health the past 3 years. She was born May 17, 1925 in North Salem, Indiana, the daughter of the late Floyd and Dessa Hardy Hamilton, and graduated from Danville High School in Danville, IL. On November 21, 1956 she married Melvin G. "Bud" Copas in Perrysville, IN., and he survives. Mrs. Copas was a member of the Oxford Church of Christ, and enjoyed bird watching, reading and crocheting. She had worked for Sears, Roebuck and Co. for 12 years, and also for Cross Printing for a number of years in Oxford before they closed. Surviving beside her husband is a daughter, Diana Lomax of West Lafayette; 2 sons, Randy Copas (fiancAC. Geraldine) of Pine Village, IN. and Darral Copas of West Lafayette. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson, all of whom she enjoyed very much. Preceded in death by a brother and 2 sisters. Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, Oxford, from 3 until 6 PM Friday. Funeral services at HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, Oxford, 10:30 AM Saturday, Larry McMillan officiating.
