Barbara Ann Kochert, 85, of Lafayette passed away at home at 11:45pm on May 8, 2017, surrounded by her family after battling cancer.
Visitation and funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church in Lafayette with Father Dominic G. Young officiating. Visitation will commence at 9:30am with service starting at 10:30am. A memorial gathering will follow the service at Saint Ann’s Hall.
Barbara was born in Lafayette to Eugene and Pearl Boyle (Whitesell) on October 2, 1931. She married Robert A. Kochert on October 27, 1956 at Saint Lawrence Church, Lafayette. Surviving along with her husband are their four children, son Eugene (Cathy) Kochert of Phoenix, AZ; daughter Kathy (Tom) Daily of Dublin, OH; son Vincent (Lisa) Kochert of Charlotte, NC; and daughter Elizabeth (Donnie) McCraw of Lafayette; six grandchildren Amanda (Ben) Monrad of Amsterdam, the Netherlands; Melissa Edwards of Lafayette; Clayton (Samantha) Taylor of Columbus, OH; Megan (Ben) Hart of Evanston, IL; Stephen (Christy) Taylor of Columbus, OH; Abbey Kochert of Indianapolis; four great grandchildren, Naomi and Isaac Robinson of Lafayette; Robert and Nora Taylor, Columbus, OH. Barbara is survived by her sister, Edna Scott, Monticello and brother Edward Boyle, Lafayette. She is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Pearl Boyle (Whitesell) and her brothers Robert and Billy Boyle.
Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and home maker. She attended Lafayette Jefferson High School and was a member of Saint Ann’s Church. She enjoyed garage sales, nickel slots, mushroom hunting, card club, reading, spending time with her family, and cooking.
Before her marriage, she worked at Meyer’s Grocery Store, 4th Street, Lafayette. She volunteered at St. Ann’s Church and with the St. Elizabeth Medical Center Auxiliary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Ann’s Church Soup Kitchen at 612 Wabash Avenue, Lafayette, IN, 47905.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the St. Elizabeth Hospice and Medical Center for their support during Barbara’s final days.
