Barbara Marie (Rieli) Facemyer, 74, of Chalmers, IN died peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Monday September 18, 2023 at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis. Due to complications with Lymphoma.
She was born August 4, 1949 in Detroit, MI to Anthony and Mary Margaret (Logsdon) Rieli. She was the second of nine children and attended St. Paul school in Grosse Pointe, MI. Barbara attended nursing school and received her degree in Pastoral Theology from St. Mary of the Woods near Terre Haute, IN.
She married James Keith Facemyer December 6, 1968 at Grosse Pointe, MI and he survives.
Barbara grew up in Detroit and Grosse Pointe and then moved all over the eastern half of the USA with Dad chasing his employment aspirations in Pennsylvania, Missouri and finally settling in Indiana. She enjoyed working in many places as a home healthcare worker.
Barbara enjoyed gardening and crafting and showing others how to do those things. She had a virtual green thumb and loved to share cuttings or produce whether you wanted them or not. Barbara often picked out her next craft item by finding a pattern she liked or a color of yarn and then filling in the details, often not having an intended recipient until the project was finished. She was an animal lover which created a menagerie of pets over the years, including the horses, Music and Peanut, cows Betsy and Sam, Elizabeth the goat, and too many dogs (including litters of Chihuahuas) and cats to name besides Shiloh, her most favorite collie.
Barbara was born, baptized and died Roman Catholic and was never afraid to share her faith with others over simple conversation or teaching religious education. She found a way to work prayer or faith into every conversation. Her greatest achievements were her children.
