Anthony Ray "Tony" Burton, 66, of Lafayette, died on July 19, 2024, in Indianapolis, IN. Tony was born in Tippecanoe County on September 29, 1957, the son of the late Arnold A. and Louella Burton. He was a 1975 graduate of Benton Central High School.

In his professional life, Tony retired as a janitor at Purdue University. The majority of his career was spent cutting meat at Tippecanoe Foods and Butler Food Processing. His dedication and hard work left a lasting impact on those around him. Tony cherished musical talents and spent many joyful hours playing the guitar. He possessed a reserved, mellow, simple, and mild-mannered personality that endeared him to all who knew him. His faithful companion, his Shih Tzu Sage, brought him immense joy and companionship.

Those who have gone before Tony include his parents, his brother Michael "Birdie" Burton, and brother-in-law Eugene Balensiefer. 

Tony leaves behind a legacy of love and memories with his surviving family and friends. He is remembered fondly by his sons: Jacob Tyson of Maine and Ross (Mariah) Burton of West Lafayette. Additionally, he is survived by his brothers: Jerry (Roswitha) Burton of Oxford, Terry (Christine) Burton of Lafayette, Richard (Deb) Burton of Portland, OR, and Jason Burton of West Lafayette; as well as his sister Myrtle Balensiefer of Fowler. His grandchildren Kallie Tate Burton, Ian Cylus Burton, and Van Anthony Burton will hold onto the special moments they shared with their beloved grandfather forever.

The life of Anthony Ray "Tony" Burton will be celebrated during visitation services at Hahn-Groeber Funeral & Cremation Services in Oxford on Friday, July 26 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, officiated by Brother Chuck Smith. Burial will follow at a later date. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
