Ada J. Gagen, 95, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and formerly of Lafayette, died Monday May 9, 2011 at the Agape Healthcare Center in Myrtle Beach. She was born December 26, 1915 in Fowler, IN, the daughter of the late Gerald P. and Leah Patnaude Doyle and was a graduate of St. Francis Girl's High School in Lafayette in 1934. Her marriage was to Charles V. Gagen November 21, 1940, and he preceded her in death August 2, 2001. Mrs. Gagen was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Myrtle Beach, SC., and while residing in Lafayette she served on the organizing committee of the Central Catholic Ladies Guild; volunteered in the Lafayette Catholic Schools and at St. Elizabeth Hospital; and belonged to the same bridge group of high school friends for 60 years. Surviving are 3 daughters, Barbara Uher (husband Richard) of Carolina Shores, NC.; Janet Murray (husband Thomas) of Orlando, FL.; Kathleen Booth (husband Frederick) of Rochester, NY.; 3 sons, Thomas Gagen (wife Patricia) of Scottsdale, AZ.; Edward Gagen (wife Rose) of Indianapolis, IN.; and Phillip Gagen of Bradenton, FL.; a brother Kenneth Doyle of Lafayette, IN. and a sister Patricia Balter (husband Wesley) of Overland Park, KS. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Shannon Gagen. Friends may call at St. Mary's Cathedral from 9:30 AM until the Mass of Christina Burial at 10:00 AM Tuesday, Fr. Dan Gartland officiating with interment to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Ada enjoyed life to the fullest right up until the time of death and was looking to meeting up with her husband and all of her relatives that preceded her to the Lord in Heaven.
